Coming to the United State at age twelve,I became mute and deaf and illiterate and sometime confused. The first day my new,I was left out,I could not understand the teacher or the student.this was a obstacle that I had to overcome.I was determine to take advantage of my new opportunities in this new country.

Coming to America was a learning experience, meeting people from different background and culture ,made me felt as if ,i was turtle hiding under a shell.Having friends from many different ethnicity has been an exciting experience.Learning more about their customand culture, taught me to be sensitive towards people from different ethnic background.

Growing up in a single household, can be difficult process at most time.My mother who often work late hours,I feel a sense of linliness, because of my close relationship with my mother,I usually found myself reading books to please my bored being. The book "Black Boy" by Richard Wright intrigue me, with his determination to achievehis dream and overcoming prejudices and racism.

My life gaol of becoming a mechanical engineer, since I was young child was fascinated by the different type of machinees and how it function. This fascination with mechanical also excel my mathematic ability, by studying diffrent type machines and it function.

Working hard to achieve my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer, would take a lot determinationand hard work.I often thought of quitting my drive toward my gaol, but that wasn't an option.Even though there are many obstacles, and challenges,I would continue to work hard towards my dream.

Life can be very demanding,if you believein yourself you can achieve anything you put your mind to,Richard Wright ,whose book "Black Boy",inspired me to chase after my dream. Many people with different customs, culture, and background should all have such inspiration and determination, many times people look for all the right answer in the wrong places.

My name is Peter Daneker and I am a mentor to Damian Fontaine.I am twenty-nine years old and I was born in Baltimore,Maryland in 1973. I grew up in baltimore City until age fourteen when I moved to a farm with my parents. On our farm,I rode horses and helped to raise sheep, cattle and even llamas.I played many sports while in Baltimore. Baseball was my favorite sport, but I also played soccer and basketball. One of mysummer job was to teach at a sport camp. another summer job was to deliver food for at the baseball stadium,Camden Yards, where the Baltimore Orioles play.

I attended college in New Jerseyat Princeton University.I took classes in lots of different subjects including economics, philosophy and religious studies. While in college, I help to run a food delivery service and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in business. When I graduate in 1995 , I moved to New York to work for Morgan Stanley in the financial service mergers and acquisition department. While at Morgan Stanley, I worked very hard-sometimes one hundred hours or more a week. THere were time when I had so much work I would sleep in the office or even not sleep at all. The best parts about the work were the business skills I learn and the closes I friends I made. The hardest parts of the job were the long hours and no vacations.

In 1997,I began working for a small investment firm called blue Ridge Capital. We make investments in great companies all over the world. My job is very exciting and very challenging. To learn more about business,I returned to school to the University of Virginia to earn an MBA in 1999. I have been very happy with my career in business. Everyday,I learn about something new.I recently traveled to South Korea to study some potential investments.I had never been to Korea so it was interesting to learn about the culture.Everyday,I also learn about myself.I believe that one key to success in business is to have the courage to think for yourself.Sometimesit may easier to follow the crowd, but most thing are accomplished when an individual has the courage toto follow his/her own conviction.
I addition to work, I coach a thirteen year-old baseball team in East Harlem. My team, the Eagles, practices three times a week.My mentee ,Damian, has promised me that he will come help out with the team one Saturday.I am also a big fan of the New Jersey Nets basketball team. I have been a season ticket holder since 1998.Damian and I attended two games together this year so we are cheering for the Nets in the NBA finals.GO Nets!
